New Car

Here is a look at the newest member of our family. 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid. It has close to the same acceleration of a normal Civic, only it get's above 40 MPG all time. When you come to a stop at a light the engine shuts off completely. It really trips you out the first while. Also the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) does not shift. You just accelerate faster and faster and faster. It drives just like a Honda. Here is a link to learn more about how Hybrids operate.http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question262.htm

Nice. Why does the shifter have an S and an L on it if it doesn't shift? John

Sweet. I'd like to get a Prius. Dorky looking, but economical. Like me.

The shifter has S, and L because it actually does shift. After further research into the Hybrid I discovered that it's technology is so far advanced that you just can't tell it is shifting...or something. It seems as if there are more gears or intermediate gears to help smooth the transition from say, first to second gear. I can feel the shifting due to my keen senses. But it is a very smoooth process.

Toyota huh? a quality car I must say but you sure are right about the dorky look. Still, I would drive one for sure. I certainly do like getting four to five times better gas mileage than I do in my Truck. We have decided that was wise to get the Hybrid.
