Currently 29 degrees

So big, bad Texas isn't so big and bad anymore. It is 29 outside with the chance of freezing rain and everybody is freaking out! School will probably be cancelled tomorrow, stores may open later, and tonight all the activities at the church were cancelled. On the freeway, everybody is driving about 10-20 under cuz they don't know how to drive in "bad weather". This evening, my hometeaching companion and I were making fun of all the people here who don't know how to drive when it gets cold, or starts to snow. Oh, if it starts to snow, you don't see ANYBODY.

Have you ever driven in freezing rain before? -Brett

Yeah, it is pretty crappy. But there isn't freezing rain, just the prospect of it. It is now almost 3am and I don't think it has happened yet, not in our little town anyway. It is just kind of funny how Texans are with cold weather and rain.

Yeah, OK, but why were you home teaching before the last day of the month?

This sounds like the desert. Have fun and enjoy it. Southerns don't know snow. We just don't have enough experience with it!

I remember when I heard Iowans talking about freezing rain, I thought it was a hickish way of saying snow. Anyway, the following day as I ventured out with my companion, I slipped and fell three times as we hobbled along from door to door. We hobbled home for an early lunch and considered ourselves "iced in."-Brett

That was like North Carolina last week. Only we had snow plows! It snows here about as much as Texas, don't know why TX won't go get some plows. Oh yeah, everyone likes an excuse to stay home! LOL

I would rather everyone act as if they don't know how to drive in bad weather and slow the @#$%^& down or stay in. The ones who say they know how to drive in bad weather are way too comfortable and one day will be the victim of the "slide off" which I will in turn issue a ticket for "driving too fast for existing conditions." Which in return they usually argue like no other about the situation. What they don't understand is they wasted my time and the tow company's time for the idiotic driving that could've been avoided by simply slowing down. Its not hard, just a little less pressure to the pedal on the right.
